Don't feel like cooking? Can't say we blame you! Everything is getting old these days including coming up with new meals to cook. But luckily the Westfield-Southwick area has great family friendly restaurants which my kids love and you know that when the kids are happy, parents are happy. Here are 5 of our favorites places to eat in the our area!
Shortstop Bar & Grill (https://www.facebook.com/ShortstopBar/)
99 Springfield Rd. Westfield, MA
Shortstop Bar & Grill serves casual bar type food in a sports bar setting (think TVs on every wall) which makes it one of my son's favorite restaurants. They also have speedy service and a great kids menu complete with a dessert choices. Check out their facebook page for daily and seasonal specials as well as great deals for take out if you don't feel comfortable eating in a restaurant. And don't forget to visit them in the warmer months too as they have a huge outdoor patio with a tropical vibe and live entertainment. That spacious patio made this my family's first choice for dining out once restaurants reopened last spring after COVID began.
Village Pizza (or Pizzeria)
521 College Highway Southwick, MA
We call it Village Pizza but when writing this article I realized that their sign actually says Village Pizzeria-who knew? This place is a small but yummy family style restaurant tucked in a strip mall with a menu to please everyone. Their kids menu has cartoon character named meals (be prepared to explain who Popeye is) and my daughter adores their kids cheese ravioli which comes with tons of melted cheese on top. Portions are huge here and their pizza is one of our favorites in the area. They serve beer and wine too! Oh and they also have a revolving dessert case filled with scrumptious looking treats in case you have room left over from your meal (spolier alert-you won't!)
On the Hill (https://www.facebook.com/onthehillinfeedinghills/)
37 Southwick Street Feeding Hills, MA
My daughter and I are "breakfast people" so when we win the going out to eat battle in my home we choose here. The food is always fast and good-shredded hashbrowns for me, chocolate chip pancakes for her-and my son is happy because he can order lunch. Prices can't be beat either.
Classic Burger (https://www.classicburgers.net/)
1261 Westfield Street (Rte 20) West Springfield, MA
If you haven't checked this place out, you need to get there soon. The food is tasty-typical burger and fries type stuff-but the atmosphere is what makes this place great. You can eat in a car! The owners have lovingly refurbished 50's style cars and my kids love choosing one of the brightly colored mobiles to sit in. Did I mention their HOME-MADE ice cream? Some of the best in the area. And truth be told I am a bit of an ice cream snob. Try some-you won't be disappointed.
Calabrese Market (https://www.facebook.com/calabresemarket)
54 Park Street (off the North End rotary) West Springfield, MA
Calabrese Market is one of our favorite sandwiches shops in the area. We love to go here on the weekends for lunch as they have a huge selection of sandwiches and soups-their page of grilled cheese choices is the go to for my kids. While you wait for your food, take a moment to poke around the Italian speciality food products or buy something tasty from their prepared foods case to eat for dinner that night. You can check out their facebook page for daily specials too. Closed Sundays.
