Top 5 Things For Families To Do At MGM Springfield
My family and I were recently invited to spend the day at the new MGM Springfield to see what it offers for families. You might think it's all casino and gambling, but there is so much more to do there!
1. Eat, Drink & Be Merry There's several places for lunch, dinner, and a snack. We had lunch at the Tap Sports Bar. It's a large restaurant adorned with exposed brick and wood for a nice rustic feel, but it lives up to the theme with two huge tv screens and many smaller ones showing all kinds of games. There is a variety of sports memorabilia decorating the walls. You can also get breakfast there on weekends and dinner any day of the week.
Two other restaurants, The Chandler Steakhouse and Cal Mare, offer dinner. Another option is the Cal Mare Pizza Counter for a more casual lunch or dinner. There is also a Starbucks, and something that I'm really excited about, a Wahlburgers is coming soon!
Later in the day, we visited the Kringle Emporium for a snack. When you think Kringle you think candles, and yes they do sell them there, but it is also a bakery, candy store, and cafe. They have everything to satisfy your sweet tooth including a large variety of hand-dipped chocolates, cookies, cakes, and gourmet milkshakes. Grown-ups can even get a little extra something added to your shake in the form of vodka, rum or whiskey to warm you up. If you need a little more than a snack they also make paninis.
Outside is The Plaza with chairs and a humungous tv screen. In the warmer months, I imagine it will be nice to sit out there, but right now there is a large Christmas tree with lights synchronized to music along with other festive lights and decorations. It's so fun to just walk around and take in the sights and sounds while taking selfies along the way! |
2. Go Bowling and Play Arcade Games After lunch we hit the lanes. On the other side of Tap Sports Bar there is a bowling alley with some arcade games. It has 6 lanes with comfy couches and chairs. Again with the exposed brick and wood, it is really the nicest bowling alley I've ever seen.
3. Catch a Movie Yes, they even have a Regal movie theater! We couldn't pass up the chance to see a movie while we were there. There are seven screens for plenty of movie choices. They all have the comfortable reclining lounge seats, a concession stand and a full bar for the grown-ups.
4. Ice Skate This time of year you can take advantage of the outdoor ice skating rink. They even have some warming igloos for parents to take a load off and thaw out a bit while the kids skate.
5. Play Virtual Golf and Other Games Top Golf was our last stop of the day. We had a busy day up to this point but luckily we saved a bit of energy because Top Golf was a blast! We had never been to a Top Golf before so I had no idea what to expect. You literally hit a golf ball toward a screen that has a golf course on it. It's like you are really on the green golfing but you are in a large secluded bay that looks like a living room with a big comfy couch, chairs and a coffee table. You get the bay all to yourself. You can even order snacks while you are playing.
For the real golf enthusiasts, they have all kinds of courses to choose from including famous ones like Pebble Beach. So even though you are in Western Massachusetts in the winter time, you can really golf anywhere in the world! For the families like us, they have other games to play. Along with golf, we played zombie dodgeball. Throw the balls at the zombies to knock them down before they get too close. We also played hockey, baseball, and carnival games. |

We had such a great family day full of laughs, excitement, and fun! So if you're looking for some new entertainment for the family, check out MGM Springfield. It's very easy to get to right off of I-91 and they conveniently have a free parking garage.
We were hosted by MGM Springfield for the day, but all opinions are my own.
