Battling Daylight Savings with Natrol Melatonin

My quest for a full night of sleep!

By Renae Gonzalez, Macaroni Kid Brentwood Publisher March 22, 2018

Mom Life. It can pretty much equal tired life. It’s no secret I lead the life of a night owl. My husband, the poor guy, wakes up every morning at 3:45 AM. So naturally, to function, he needs to go to bed early. My daughters, being the young, growing beings they need to fall asleep early too (even though some days it’s later than it should be). You’d think that means I would be able to do the responsible thing and get to bed at a decent hour and be well rested in the morning- right?! Wrong.

My husband jokes that I lead a whole different life when they are asleep. I think it stems from the years when my daughters were young and I was running my own business. I would do the late night hustle to get t-shirts made and events prepped. My business has shifted and my girls have grown, making it easier for me to get things done during normal work hours, but my late night mindset has not changed. I’m like a kid in a candy shop when I have some late night hours alone. I binge watch whole tv series (I am seriously not joking… it’s embarrassing), stay up late working or scouring the web for the events to add to our calendar (or honestly just killing brain cells by aimless scrolling). Next thing I know, I’ve watched the late night tv shows and finally lay my head down just to hear my poor hubby’s alarm go off in the early hours. Then, when I start to get into a deep sleep after he has left for the day, it is time for me to get up and get my girls ready for school. Can you say walking mombie (get it… mom and zombie… that’s me).

When I heard of Natrol Melatonin I jumped all over the chance to see if I could improve my sleep. The fact that Natrol was drug-free and could help with my sleep during the already crazy transition of daylight savings was a real win for me.

Daylight Savings, though only an hour, can throw off your routine for what seems to be forever (ok… not forever, but far too long for just an hour time shift). Already suffering from a lack of sleep, I never look forward to the change. But this year with Natrol Melatonin as my secret weapon I was fully prepared and started prepping days before the time change.

Just like the instructions suggested I popped a fast dissolving strawberry tablet in my mouth 20 minutes before bedtime. No water needed! Usually, I sit in bed until my husband falls asleep and then get up and start my second life in the late night hours. But that night…I fell asleep too! I don’t even remember him falling asleep. Natrol Melatonin assists in establishing regular sleep patterns and helps you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and wake up feeling refreshed. I woke up a couple times because I was battling a terrible cough but even those moments felt like a hazy dream and I coughed it out and fell right back to sleep! The morning came and I felt rested! I couldn’t believe it. Being sick and all, did I actually get a good night sleep?! Could it be from Natrol’s Melatonin?!

Just as I am with everything in life, I was still a little skeptical. Could this 100% drug-free, non-habit forming, #1 melatonin brand in America actually have helped me get a good night sleep? Night two I did the same thing. I found my purple bottle and popped the dissolving tablet twenty minutes before bed and I kid you not I beat my husband to bed for the second night in a row. It was so noticeable for him too that when I woke from a well-rested night of sleep and chatted with him on the phone he decided that he was going to start trying Natrol every night too.

I will definitely continue to use Natrol Melatonin nightly and am excited to regain my sleep and start to make the early morning my productive hours. If you want to break your night owl, restless mind tendencies like me, I’d definitely give Natrol’s Melatonin a try. Just look for the purple bottle! You can find Natrol Melatonin online and locally at stores like Walgreens, Costco, Sprouts, and other natural food stores.

Here are some other survival tips for getting through the week after Daylight Savings:

1. Pack lunches the night before. Avoid the last minute hustle and bustle by packing lunches so they are quick to grab in the morning. I even got motivated to start making my husband’s lunch again making his early morning easier and saving us money so he’s not always eating out. Double win!

2. Have laundry done and outfits planned. I am looking at myself for this one. Definitely my weak spot on this list. Something so easy, like planning what you and your kids are wearing the night before, can save SO MUCH TIME in the morning.

3. Have Homework done before dinner. Homework before dinner will free up more time for bedtime routines and allow everyone in the family to be able to get to bed earlier!

4. Set bedtimes earlier to help the transition. If your kids are old enough to discuss Daylight Savings let them know about the time change and the importance of getting enough sleep. My daughters and I discussed that even though it is getting lighter that doesn’t mean bedtime changes and discussed the importance of sleep this week and every week.
