It's a Holiday Extravaganza at Six Flags New England

By Laurie Ritrosky, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Westfield-Southwick December 7, 2017

It is Six Flags like you have never seen before! Holiday In The Park is now open. Everywhere you look there are colorful lights, holiday displays, characters dressed in holiday garb, festive music, snowfalls and even Santa & Mrs. Claus!

This is the first time ever that Six Flags New England has been open this time of year and let's hope they continue with this wonderful tradition. If you love the holiday season like I do, you are going to love walking around Six Flags. There are so many lights draped all over the trees and buildings. There is even a nightly light show with music. Check it out here https://www.facebook.com/MacKidWestfieldSouthwick/videos/1527213707316092/

Everywhere you go you will see signs of the season. Some of the games have been transformed into holiday themes like pick a present or throw snowballs to win a prize and all of the games have holiday-themed prizes like stuffed gingerbread men, candy canes and this cute Santa that my son won while we were there.

All the different areas have fun new names like Santa's Reindeer Station, Jingle Bell Junction and Candy Cane Crossing to name a few.

There is fabulous new entertainment. See Chestnut and Cole, the Reindeer Wranglers, New England Classic Carolers and my favorite, Frost-a Holiday Cirque Extravaganza. A really festive show with music and dancing, acrobatics, a balancer and even elves on a trampoline. What could be better?! See a sneak peek here and be sure to turn up the volume: https://www.facebook.com/MacKidWestfieldSouthwick/videos/1530061717031291/

At 5PM every day they do a tree lighting. So magical when everyone counts down and the giant Christmas tree lights up. Be sure to bring the kids to that.

So you are thinking that it's too cold to go to Six Flags in December. Think again! They have warming stations all over the park. There are even heat lamps hanging over you while you wait in line for Mind Eraser.

Yes, rides are open too! Not all of them, but some of the big ones are like The Joker, Mind Eraser, Fireball and Batman, along with a lot of the kid-friendly rides. Be sure to take a ride on the Whistlestop train to see some beautiful light displays.

So after you go whipping through the air on a roller coaster with the cold wind in your face, you will want to warm up by the fire, because they have those too! You can even purchase a smores kit and roast your own marshmallows over the fire.

That brings me to the food. So many delightful goodies. It wouldn't be the holiday season without hot chocolate, so of course, they have that. You can also get soup in bread bowls to warm you up-yum!

You cannot help but get in the holiday spirit after a day at Holiday In The Park!

Holiday In The Park is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through January 1st, and they are open the week between Christmas and New Year's with the exception of Dec. 24 & 25. There will be a fireworks show on New Year's Eve. More info at https://www.sixflags.com/newengland/special-events/holiday-in-the-park

Make sure you are there after dark because that's when the magic happens!

I was given tickets for this event, but all opinions are my own.
