We were recently invited to Six Flags New England in Agawam to try out the brand new 4D free-fly coaster, THE JOKER™.
After being lifted up a 120-foot hill, this 4D Coaster challenges riders to “face their fears” as they flip head-over-heels multiple times along the weightless, tumbling journey. This fourth dimension free-fly coaster offers leaps and dives along a horizontal plane, with unexpected drops as riders tumble from one level to the next. The unique winged seat design will have riders suspended on the sides of the track. This only amps up the pandemonium and chaos since there is no track above or below─ just the sky, ground and plenty of sinister thrills. One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology with multiple smooth head-over-heels free-fly flips providing guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track. It seats up to eight passengers on either side of the coaster and has riders physically face each other as they tumble head-over-heels.
I've been on a lot of roller coasters in my time, and I have to say that this is one of the most unique I have been on! It is a different experience each time you ride. I am told the seat will flip anywhere from 2-7 times while you are on the ride. The first time I rode, it flipped 3 times. The second time I rode, it just rocked back and forth a few times, but never flipped all the way over. It's wonderful because you never know what to expect each time you ride. It is a very short ride, so if the flipping is too much for you it will be over soon, or if you didn't flip enough, just ride again! The seats and restraints are very comfortable, and the ride is extremely smooth. A fun addition to the park!
“We are thrilled to open our 13th coaster here at the Coaster Capital of New England. THE JOKER 4D Free Fly Coaster utilizes the latest innovative technology and perfectly captures the warped and unpredictable nature of The Joker. THE JOKER™ 4D Free Fly Coaster is the first of its kind in New England and like no other ride our guests have ever experienced. This coaster is a great complement to our already stellar ride lineup and will be a big hit with thrill-seekers,” said Park President John Winkler.
