The Countdown Is On-Track Santa On Christmas Eve!

December 18, 2014
Kids of all ages can track Santa's every move on http://www.noradsanta.org.  For more than 50 years, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and its predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) have tracked Santa's flight.  The tradition began in 1955 after an advertisement for kids to call Santa misprinted the telephone number.  The wrong number put kids through the CONAD Commander-in-Chief's operations hotline.  Colonel Harry Shoup, the Director of Operations at the time and the first NORAD Santa tracker, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole.   Children who called were given updates on Santa's whereabouts, and thus, a holiday tradition was born.

Now everyone can track Santa by visiting NORAD's website!  On December 24th, high-tech, high-speed digital Santa Cams will be capturing images and videos of Santa and his reindeer as they make their amazing journey across the globe!  You can even follow Santa from your mobile phone!
