Brenda has just celebrated her 30th year as owner, operator and primary instructor at The Dance Slipper. The children that attend are intent on and dedicated to their chosen form of artistic expression. The instructors have trained all of their lives (primarily with Brenda).
The Dance Slipper's central focus is providing children with a strong foundation in dance, a solid appreciation for their craft, with proper technique being in the forefront of everything else. So much more than dance happens at The Dance Slipper... From the first time a dancer steps onto the dance floor for the first time until their last performance with us as a senior, the children at The Dance Slipper become family. There have been many permanent, deep-rooted relationships built through the many years of hard work and dedication of every one of the children, through all 30 years at The Dance Slipper.
Our children are part of a TEAM that is supportive of each other, respectful to each other and reliable to one another. The Dance Slipper Competition Team has just had another AMAZING 2015 - 2016 competition season. Some of their recent awards include, American Dance Awards Teen Dancer of New Haven - Madeline Peling, Kids For Kids Teen Diamond Dancer - Garet Wierdsma, at American Dance Awards Nationals, there were competitors from around the world including countries such as Brazil, China, South Africa and Canada. The students of The Dance Slipper held their own by receiving many impressive awards, some of them are: The 12 & under dance off included “The Race” Tap line, “Captain Jack” Acrobat line and winning over all Duo/Trio And coming in 4th in the Elite Six out of 1730 entries “Carousel” Modern Trio! In the 13 & over division the dance off included “Charmed” Jazz class, “Clock Work” Modern class, “The Sun” Small Group Modern and winning over all Duo/Trio“Metamorphosis” Modern Trio. Brenda Barna and Lori Haftmann Received American Dance Awards Choreographers of the Year for their piece Carousel.

We have classes for children starting at the age of 2 through adult.
Our classes consist of: Tiny Tumblers (ages 2 - 4, acrobat), Kinderdance (ages 3 - 5, tap & ballet), Acrobat/Gymnastics, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical/Modern, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop & Adult Classes.

Open House will begin August 16th every Tuesday through Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, for classes starting September 6th. Please register early because classes tend to fill up and there is limited space in each class.
